Spring Into Action

Between March 11-25, QPIRG-McGill is hosting its annual spring event series "Spring Into Action!"

 

This year, the series centers on the theme of Home, featuring workshops, events, and screenings related to homelessness, queerness, diasporism, and tenant justice, among other struggles. All events are free to attend and many offer free dinner! 

SSMU Menstrual Health Project

Come pick up free eco-friendly period products including disposable pads and tampons, and reusable products (cups, discs, pads, underwear, and boxers).

 

This month’s pickup is on March 19th 1-4pm at Gerts!

 

Montreal Resources

The Shield of Athena

The Shield of Athena is a non-profit organization for victims of family violence.

  • offers an emergency shelter and professional service to women and their children
  • Culturally and linguistically adapted support, intervention, and prevention services to meet the needs of many of Montreal's major ethnocultural communities

Chez Doris

Existing since 1977, Chez Doris helps the most vulnerable women avoid homelessness and regain their autonomy in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment.

Programs and services include:

  • drop-in hours
  • night and day shelter
  • financial services
  • legal and tax clinics
  • health services, and more.
 

I'm Ready to Know

We are happy to be a distribution site for the I’m Ready program. We will offer free HIV self-testing kits during our office hours (Tuesday and Thursday, 3-6pm). If these hours do not work for you, please email external@sacomss.org


To pick up a kit, please download the I’m Ready, Test app. Peer support, resources, and test results are only available through the app. To pick up a testing kit, show order confirmation to a SACOMSS volunteer!

Sexual Violence Case in France

A French surgeon, Joël Le Scouarnec, has admitting to committing acts of sexual violence against 299 people, mostly children, who were placed under his care. However, in France, the case will still go to trial. Advocates hope that this case will bring better legislative protections and social change, especially on the heels of the Gisèle Pelicot trial.
